I was wrong about Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle, It looks great and I need it

Oh geez, it’s time to eat some crow. I was, let’s say skeptical about a Mario Rabbids team up. Mario is great, I think you would be hard pressed to find someone who disagrees but Rabbids, Rabbids are like Minions but in Video games and they should be destroyed before they ingrain themselves in our society and are inescapable.

After all the leaked images and eye rolls surrounding Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle, I’m sure the developers at Ubisoft were secretly laughing behind closed doors. “Sure, they laugh at us now but wait until they see this game.” RPG was the term being tossed around like crazy with Mario+Rabbids, a tactics RPG sounds even better as far as I’m concerned.

Mario has gone full Xcom, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, and their four Rabbid companions will be taking cover and dodging through pipes while taking down baddies, some of them Rabbids wearing DK’s tie.

The tactics shooter has a cover mechanic, with destructible cover, a skill tree, and Mario and Rabbid themed guns galore!

On top of officially announcing the game, some collectable Rabbids figures are available on the Ubisoft store today. They’re a little pricey at $39.99, and they aren’t amiibo, which I’m sure are coming.

A collector’s edition was also announced, complete with soundtrack, collectible cards, and a 6-inch Rabbid figure dressed like Mario.

For as much as I hate Rabbids, this game looks pretty great and adds another title for the Switch this summer. Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle launches on August 29th, 2017
