E3 2017: Top 5 things we’re most excited about for Microsoft’s press conference

Tomorrow marks the early start of E3 the biggest week in the gaming industry. So, we have one final top 5 for you. Here are the top 5 things we’re most excited to see during Microsoft’s press event.

Crackdown 3

Crackdown 3

These lists tend to be filled with a lot of speculation, but this next one sort of has to be there. We first heard about Crackdown 3 way back at E3 2014. As far as we know, it’s still slated for a Q4 of 2017 launch, so I’d imagine this has to be a Scorpio launch title.

Xbox Scorpio

Project Scorpio

Speaking of Scorpio, this one we know, Microsoft has been shouting from the mountain tops about how they’re making the most powerful console known ever seen. We’ll be getting all the details including a price and launch date for this premium Xbox One. If it’ll be worth, it remains to be seen.

New IPs

This might be a little all-encompassing, but it’s important. Microsoft has leaned on old franchises like Halo and Gears of War for far too long. Sony has been launching new IPs like left and right with great response, the latest instalment in Gears was great, but it’s time for something fresh. A fancy new console isn’t worth the investment if you don’t have the software to back it up.

VR Plans

This isn’t crazy likely, but its ok to dream. Microsoft has been backing the Oculus from the start by pairing an Xbox One controller with the VR headset. If the Scorpio is as powerful as they claim, Oculus Rift running on an Xbox isn’t out of scope and having a VR peripheral for consoles that’s even more powerful than PSVR would be a huge win. If not that in particular I’d be shocked if Microsoft didn’t announce some plan for VR.

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves

We got a glimpse at Sea of Thieves last year at E3, and it’s exciting to see Rare tackling something that isn’t a Kinect game for the first time in a long time. I’d imagine this title has to be close to complete, so I’d expect a gameplay demo and maybe a release date.

What are you all looking forward to seeing at E3 2017?
