E3 is just around the corner and before the press conferences hit, all of us at Lunawolf are giving you a look at the top 5 things we’re most excited for out of some of our favorite developers. For me, I can’t wait to see what Ubisoft has cooked up.
Assassin’s Creed Origins
Let’s not pretend that we don’t know exactly what the next Assassin’s Creed game is. WWG first leaked the title a while back and leaked screenshots have since corroborated the existence of the Eygpt set title, called Assassin’s Creed Origins. Assassin’s Creed took a year off after AC Syndicate, and I couldn’t be more excited to get back. Naval combat is rumored to appear, and the implication of an origins story for the Assassin’s order has me intrigued. I think we can expect a November release date and hopefully a gameplay trailer.
Far Cry 5
We just recently got out first look at the Hope County Montana setting of Far Cry 5. Far Cry Primal didn’t hold much interest for me, and I had been wondering how the series could pull an audience back in. Travelling to another foreign country and blowing stuff up wasn’t going to be enough to hold my attention, but the promise of a rural America setting and a town controlled by an extremist cult might do it. If the team at Ubisoft is willing to go all the way they’re sure to piss some people off, but they’ll make one hell of a game doing it.
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
Ok, excited is a strong word. I’m not even sure how much it applies here. I can say I’m intrigued to see just what in the world this thing is. It’s one of the oldest Switch rumors, Ubisoft is teaming up with Nintendo to make a Mario meets Rabbids RPG. Now here’s the thing, Rabbids are the minions of video games, and we’d all be better off if they were gone, but Mario RPGs have a track record of being pretty impressive. I’d hope a turn-based Mario RPG is enough to offset gun wielding Rabbids, but we’ll have to wait for the show to see.
A New Splinter Cell
No ramblings from Ubisoft internally have anything to say on this one, but a popular NeoGaf user by the name of Crossing Eden spoke out last year saying a new Splinter Cell was in the works. Crossing Eden has a bit of a reputation with the community for accurately coming forward with Ubisoft info, and a new Splinter Cell would be great, so it’s one to keep an eye on.
Ubisoft’s New IP
Word on the street is Ubisoft has a brand new IP they’re saving to reveal during the show. While this might be something entirely new, I have a feeling we already know about it. You might remember a mission in Watch Dogs 2 that tasked you with stealing a trailer for a sci-fi game called Pioneer. Since then Ubisoft has confirmed that it’s a real game they’re working on. While the mission was all in good fun, I have a feeling that our first real look at Pioneer will be at E3 2017.
So what are you most excited about for Ubisoft’s showcase?
