5 Games worth getting in May
May may be quite a quiet time for gaming this year but that doesn’t mean there’s no good games coming out this month. This month includes some great smaller titles and some highly anticipated games also. All of which are worth purchasing if you own the platform for them.
We’ve compiled a list of the top 5 games worth purchasing this month with a nice list of additional games worth a look at the end of the article.
There are very few truly great sci-fi games and Prey is looking to be yet another great one. Bethesda has been releasing a lot of gameplay videos for Prey over the past few weeks and the game continues to look amazing. To inspire even more confidence in the game, the developers have launched a 1 hour demo ahead of the games release. Prey Demo: Opening Hours is currently available for download on Xbox One and PS4 however, there’s currently no PC demo. At least the developers are still working on the PC version of the game then.
While the demo isn’t available for PC yet, the game will be launching on May 5th for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
This co-op stealth game has one player acting as the agent and the other taking the role of hacker. Each role is very important and the players must work together to steal data from computers found across the different levels. There are challenges to overcome and enemies to avoid or defeat in order to progress through the game. I got to try the game at the PC Gamer Weekender and it was a lot of fun. I would highly recommend this game for duos or groups looking to add a new game to their play list.
Hacktag will be released into Early Access on May 18th via Steam. A release date for the full game is currently not available.
Let’s face it, this is something that almost all fighting game fans are eagerly waiting for. Fighting game players are waiting at the edge of the seats as they wait for NeatherRealm Studios to announce the final few characters who will be featured in the game. You can find our character wishlist here. Injustice 2 promises to add some new elements which could completely change the fighting game genre: gear. Players will be able to equip their fighters with gear to make them stronger, add to their defence, increase their health or power up special abilities.
Injustice 2 is going to be a great addition to the fighting game genre and fans of it should keep an eye on that new gear system. The game will be released for Xbox One and PS4. There’s no word of a PC version.
It’s finally almost here! Rime was first announced in 2013 and since then, details on the visually stunning game have been very limited. The wait is almost over now however as Rime has a release date and it’s coming next month.
It’s an adventure puzzle game that follows a boy who needs to escape an island and a curse. Exact details on the story and the gameplay are still unknown but if the trailer is anything to go by, it could be the next The Last Guardian.
While it was originally announced as a PS4 exclusive, Rime will now be released for Xbox One and Windows PC on May 26th. A Nintendo Switch version will be coming later this year.
Star Trek: Bridge Crew
This is the game that Star Trek fans have been dreaming about ever since the original show was launched in 1966. This game allows players to pilot and control a starship as it flies through the galaxy to complete missions and defeat enemies. Players can work together in a co-op mode to fly the ship where each player controls a different station. In addition to this, players will be able to communicate with each other verbally in the game.
Star Trek: Bridge Crew is going to be an incredibly unique experience and for Star Trek fans, this game is a must buy. The downside? It’s a VR game for the PSVR, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. There’s no non-VR version of the game at this time.
